Resort skiing is great even for experts, always something new to discover here.

We are just back from a wonderful family week skiing in Obergurgl. The Haus Gurgl was exceptional, thanks in no small part to the fantastic staff who were all helpful, welcoming and friendly. The hotel was first class: clean and modern, very good (but adult only) spa, lovely food, excellent and stress free boot room (those of you with kids will know what I mean!) and great ski in/out location. The pizzeria was great as a change from the a la carte Austrian dinner. Thanks Haus Gurgl…we can’t wait it come back!

„excellent hotel, great location, great food, fantastic value”
We stayed here for a week in March. The hotel is in a great location for reaching the slopes, The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard. The food is excellent, with a choice of main course (meat, fish or vegetarian) every evening. Breakfast was really good too. The bar prices are reasonable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. My son has a peanut allergy and so we asked if the peanuts could be removed from the bar area (there is a risk of cross contamination). This was done for us. The ski lockers are huge, with individual locks and heated boot racks – perfect! I will definitely return here.

„Fantastic staff and great hotel”
We travelled as a family (4 adults and a 4yr old). We stayed in rooms 208 and 304.
We’ve previously stayed at Sportiv and the Bellevue and we all agreed this was a nicer stay.
The main reason being the fantastic staff that went out of their way to make us feel at home.
Tibor and the girls in the restaurant deserve special thanks – they made our stay so enjoyable.
Also Marc on the bar catered to the crazy demands of our 4 year old even providing things that weren’t on the menu.
They are all a credit to the hotel.
With a tired four year old sometimes it can be difficult to relax in a hotel restaurant but the team at Haus Gurgl made it all very easy.
The food was FAR better than Sportiv and the children’s menu was fantastic. Every night we had four courses and there were always empty plates.
Also, the hotel was absolutely spotless and the rooms spacious.
The spa rivals any other (although there is no pool) – for those that want to protect their modesty towels are allowed!
The ski hire shop is located right next door and there’s also a bus stop right outside. Also, if you have little ones in Ski Schule the hotel is pretty much the nearest to the meeting point.
Thanks Haus Gurgl – Can’t wait to return. Will miss that great breakfast in the morning!

We stayed for a week with friends and had a fantastic time at Haus Gurgl. Our room was in the older part of the hotel but was still a good size, was warm and comfortable with a bath and shower, it had a very large balcony and views of the town and mountains, it was also very quiet. The hotel has been completely refurbished for this season to a very high standard, we found the bar area to be comfortable and welcoming, the dining room was also very attractive. The wellness centre was a great place to wind down after a days skiing, the facilities were very good. The food at Haus Gurgl is plentiful, of good quality and well presented, there was nothing that we did not enjoy and as a group of six adults between us we tried most things. The other outstanding feature of the hotel was the staff, we have rarely stayed anywhere else to compare with the staff here, they were friendly, efficient, humorous and went that extra mile to provide good service. We would definitely recommend staying here and will be very happy to return.

„Great hotel…Great Location”
We have stayed at the Haus Gurgl a number of times, this year booking into the new part of the hotel. We could not believe just how wonderful the refurbishment was, the room was just fantastic and the new bar and dinning room made a huge difference to our stay. We love Obergurgl and have stayed in most of the hotels at one time or another but the haus Gurgl for us is right mix of spacious room and great bathroom, friendly staff and now half board dinning together with a spa which I think rivals most in the resort. We will be back in the Haus Gurgl in March for another great holiday in Obergurgl!

„Fab ski holiday”
Just came back from fabulous weeks skiing in Obergurgl. We stayed at the Haus Gurgl hotel. Fab small hotel with really nice friendly helpful staff. Food was very good with a veggie option every night. Breakfast had great choices and we enjoyed lovely piece of cake après ski everyday. Hotel is next to ski school and ski hire shop just at the front of hotel as is the ski bus if you want to explore other ski areas near by. Well located hotel. With great ski runs. There’s also a great spa area which we took advantage of to relax after a days skiing. We even had an excellent massage at the end of the week. Thanks Katya. We will definitely return here.

„Exceptional food and great staff”
We stayed on the second floor and the room was clean and warm with plenty of space. We particularly liked the large balcony (shared with room next door) which looked down upon the town.
The hotel location was better than was described to us, we were expecting a “2 minute walk” to the slopes but actually it is about 30 seconds from the ski room on the ground floor of the hotel. Haus Gurgl is also situated directly beside the bus stop (which you take to Hochgurgl) as well as the sports shop where ski’s and boots can be rented.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful without exception. On the first night we arrived too late to eat at the hotel but were given a 30 Euro voucher for the pizzeria restaurant next door which we really appreciated! The food at the hotel restaurant itself was delicious and beautifully presented. All credit to the chef as there were empty plates throughout the whole week, and that is saying a lot considering the generous portion sizes.
There were three clean and relaxing sauna rooms downstairs, which were very nice after a long day’s skiing.
We look forward to staying again and would definitely recommend this hotel, thanks for the great hospitality.

„First rate experience”
The hotel itself is ideally situated in the village and is super close to the slopes and the all important ski school.
The food was of a good standard and we enjoyed the nod to Austrian traditional foods. Stocking Austrian wine was also a great touch.

„Why stay anywhere else?”
Haus Gurgl is a clean specious and excellent small hotel that retains that family feel …with good food and great standards.
Both Tibor and Marc are very attentive and welcoming from their bar roles and the bar area is modern nicely positioned.
The hotel layout is excellent, nice dining room, bar adjoining, and downstairs is the spa area with wellness facilities and relaxation area plus treatment rooms where Katya will provide a range of massage options or beauty treatments.
The hotel is positioned just 10-15 metres from the slopes and the boot room is part of the recently completed new extension and is bright, clean and spacious.
Our bedroom (#310 – third floor, new building with large bathroom, specious shower and separate bath, and windows to both side and slope to the rear) was quiet comfortable and excellent.
This is the type of friendly hotel where you get the chance to speak with staff and guests …. and a general ambiance that has you planning your next stay. I’ve stayed in dozens of ski hotels, most of these in Austria, and the friendly feel and good standards of Haus Gurgl allow me to rate it as a worthwhile choice for anyone planning a weekend or week ski break.

„Second stay at Haus Gurgl”
We have just returned from staying at Haus Gurgl. This time staying in one of the superior rooms in the new part of the hotel. The room was huge and immaculate. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. The hosts bend over backwards to help. We would have no hesitation in recommending Haus Gurgl again and will certainly be returning! A great, warm, welcoming hotel has become even better – well done. As usual in half term, the weather was great and snow conditions excellent.
Lee B – 22 February 2015
The spa area on the lower ground floor is extremely well thought out and a warm calm area to unwind after a day’s skiing.
Although I suffered a broken leg during the time of our stay, Haus Gurgl could not have looked after us any better. When we return to Obergurgl, Haus Gurgl is where we will be staying.

„So good, I don’t really want to share it!”
This hotel is so good that instinct tells me to keep it secret, but it was so good that I owe it to the owner to do it justice, We went there over Christmas 2014 on a 1 week skiing break with Ingham’s. It is all newly refurbished, is spacious, friendly and has great spa facilities (no swimming pool). The evening set menu had optional meat, fist and vegetarian choices with 4 courses (course 2 being self service fresh salad) every night. My partner has a wheat allergy, and her individual meals were adjusted accordingly with no issues or problems. On Christmas Eve they served a 7 course Gala Dinner with complimentary drinks in the bar beforehand. The hotel is situated about 100 yards from the bottom of a training piste and ski school, with a button lift which gets you to the bottom of Run 6 from where competent skiers can ski directly to the Gondola. For those looking for easier skiing the bus to Hochgurgl leaves every 10 minutes from right outside the Hotel. The ski room is brand new with spacious warmed lockers and comfy booting up facilities. We will be going back. Thoroughly recommended!
